The ACS712 current module is based on the ACS712 sensor, which can accurately detect AC or DC current. The maximum AC or DC that can be detected can reach 5A, and the present current signal can be read via the analog I / O port of Arduino.  Sensing and controlling current flow is a fundamental requirement in a wide variety of applications including, over-current protection circuits, battery chargers, switching mode power supplies, digital watt meters, programmable current sources, etc.

Features and Specifications

  • Current sensor chip: ACS712ELC-5A
  • Measuring range: 5A.
  • When the current is 0, the output is the power midpoint voltage, isolated.
  • Pin 5V power supply, onboard power indicator;
  • The module can measure positive and negative 5 amp current, corresponding to the analog output 100mV / A;
  • When no detection current is passed, the output voltage is VCC/2;
  • The current to be detected is connected in series to the terminal;
  • PCB board size: 3.1cm/1.2’’ x 1.4 cm/0.55’’;
  • Weight: 10.5g

Applications

  • Over-current protection circuits
  • battery chargers
  • switching mode power supplies
  • digital watt meters
  • programmable current sources
  • motor control
  • load detection and management

Note: ACS712 is based on the principle of Hall detection. Please try to avoid the influence of magnetic field when using.
