The 74HC540 is a high-speed CMOS octal buffer/line driver featuring non-inverting 3-state outputs. It is designed to improve both the performance and density of 3-state memory address drivers, clock drivers, and bus-oriented receivers and transmitters. Each of the eight buffers/drivers has its own output enable (OE) input for controlling the output states, making it suitable for driving bus lines or buffering memory address registers in digital systems.
